Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born and brought up within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother was an old backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. As a child the father of her was appointed as City's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. Their family eventually moved into this historical building. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan began her singing career as a contralto in the children's choir, then shortly after, she was a part of the adult group. His exposure to secular music was not extensive at first "I performed solos at the church, and I was asked to go on the gospel label at age was 11, but I was not prepared to sign that contract," she recalls. "Then McDonald's offered a competition that was open to kids in cities. It gave me the chance to perform What God Allows on It's Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely welcoming." The singer performed along with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at thirteen. Sullivan was first signed to Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records in the year fifteen. She produced an entire album but this album did not see release. Sullivan was later dismissed from the record label. The singer had a great working connection with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced numerous tracks for her which included "Backstabbers" and "Backstabbers," which was produced by Timbaland.
